We Love Music and the People of our Community!

The Northwest Academy of Music was founded in 1989 as a music school for young children, offering programs that develop total musicianship skills from a very early age. These include being able to accurately identify and reproduce musical pitch vocally and instrumentally, imitate and create new rhythms, develop good sight-reading skills, have a thorough understanding of music theory, create compositions using students’ natural creativity, and exhibit polished ensemble skills. We strive to motivate students at their various developmental levels through song, movement, and a variety of activities that will inspire children of all ages to excel in the joy of musical pursuits.

Our young children's programs include the Yamaha Music for Kids program which brings music fundamentals classes directly into area preschools and daycares. We offer Harmony Road toddler and preschool music classes for parents and their children as well as piano classes for elementary and middle school-aged children. Our ensemble classes for guitar, vocal, woodwind, and percussion students inspire players to make music a lifetime passion.

Over the past 27 years, our programs have grown to encompass all types of private lessons with the finest music instructors in the Inland Northwest. We offer lessons in voice, piano, guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, banjo, ukulele, violin, viola, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, drums, and other types of percussion.

Our staff is a collection of talented, dedicated professional instructors and musicians who combine a love of music with a desire to help others who want to achieve their highest musical potential. That passion shows in all we do!

We are extremely involved in our community and support local public and private school music programs as well as student performing groups, from youth symphonies to theatrical productions to chamber and "garage band" ensembles.

In 2000 we expanded into offering a full line music store due to community demand. We provide high-quality student and professional instruments, sheet music, instrument rental, repair services, and accessories for both learning and performance.

We are now a full-service liberal arts center with events for up-and-coming bands, county-wide contests for elementary and secondary students, and our School of Photography run by NW Photo and Video.
